I'm trying to help out a friend. He is interested in finding e-mail lists that can help him get information about programming. Are there lists out there for blind programmers? Also, is there a good way to search for e-mail lists just for blind people? Thanks for any help.

Sure, there are a few lists out there.
The Blind Programming mailing list (although it's become awfully boring and full of people who think they know how to code, while sadly they couldn't create an if statement if their lives depended on it) is one source (www.blindprogramming.com .. if it still works).
The Program_L mailing list for blind programmers I subscribe to is great. I will post the info on that list later on today if Jared or someone doesn't beat me to it, great source for beginners and professionals alike.

Thanks B. This guy is a professional but has run into some problems on his job and is looking for help.

I recommend program-l. I don't have the information at hand, but I'd imagine Jared or someone else has it.

o same here. I'm much interested in learning programming languages but unfortunately, there is no any fuckin training centres for the blind in India as far as I know, you see.

If your friend wants to get a zone account and talk to me I'd be more then willing to try and help.

Raaj, by far best to learn from books, such as Perl or C for dummies (I know it's called for Dummies, but those books are just excellent, I used one for c, for instance and my boss at Wachovia bank did too), also teach yourself x in 24 hours type books are great, start very simple.
I can also answer questions through Zone account if needed and, Becky, sorry aboutnot getting back to you, we've been moving house, the Icelandic currency has fallen 25% in two days and we've all had a pretty acute type of flu so it's been fever, sore throats and puking all round, not much fun.
cheers
